The Tower of Whitebear is a little less threatening sounding than Babel.

Impressions:

What? A multi-episode arc? What is this craziness? Well, I suppose since each episode seems to be defaulting to about 8 minutes, a three episode arc is more or less the same as one episode of most anything else. Some parts were funny, but overall, the jokes were lost in setting up the tower climb adventure for the next episode which should be a lot more entertaining. We just got to see Marie’s obsession with making things bigger than Pengy, though I question about them being better since… you know… the fat maids aren’t exactly the epitome of greatness. Then again, she does have… er… whose her face with the eyepatch.

At least next week should be fun as the party fights through the guardians. If nothing else, I expect some fun from Kujira and Xia Ci beating down the villains, and I bet Nene will have her time in the sun too.

And the OP this week was pretty cool too.

Penguin Girl OP #8

Pengy’s running late, but she’s got something for the others. A poster for some crazy celebrity host with a crazy collectible item and needs to drag the others along. Luckily, they’re already at the place. Kujira’s not impressed, thinking that it’s all a setup as usual, but Pengy corrects her, the building is owned by the Whitebears. Everything about the Whitebears is bigger than the Nankyouku’s. Which translates to fatter butlers, maids, fans, cars, etc. How strange… Pengy’s sure it doesn’t mean anything.

The wind blows the poster out of her hands and Marie stomps down on it, declaring the Whitebear’s superiority. She introduces herself formally… Marie Chupacabra W Whitebear. They already know her maid too. Pengy happily says hello and nice to meet you! Marie heads inside.

Inside, Pengy and the crew, including her sister, happily bring housewarming food. That plus a fantasy of a steamy Pengy.

It’s a special dish and served in the penguin-marked bowls. As she looks at the penguin mark, Marie remembers that it’s what she saw as she was dragged out of her home.

Nene wonders if Pengy shouldn’t know her from somewhere. Kaede reminds her that they’re enemies.

In the past, the Whitebear empire was reduced to nothing. Pengy doesn’t really have any clue about any of that, but is happy to be friends and holds out the food. Marie thanks her and takes it, but then throws it on Pengy’s head. Like she’d ever accept anything from a Nankyouku.

Kujira’s ready to fight, but Pengy needs medical attention. Marie basically tells her to bring it on before leaving.

Some time after, the White Bear Jr High appears next door to their school, a massive structure shadowing their’s.

They rush inside to find Xia looking stunned. Everybody’s gone. Marie’s apparently pulled them all away into their superior school as revenge and is stomping all over everything about their crappy inferior old school.

Some of them came willingly, but others resisted, saying that they loved their school… until they were bribed to wander over.

Pengy loses herself in dreams of being bribed as well. Kujira demands they be released, so Marie dares her to try it.

Marie declares that she’s waiting at the top of the school, defending by her elite body guards and dares Kujira to try to reach her and force her to change her mind. Pengy thinks it’ll be grand fun, pissing off Marie royally. The girls head over to White Bear High.

They trot inside to find the first… guardian, a fencer. She glares at them, and then attacks Pengy, slashing off all her clothes at once. She introduces herself as one of the White Knights… Hunting Mary, and will be stopping them.
