MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUU-CHAN!
Impressions:
First off… NSFW WARNING.
AT-X is apparently not censoring it (yippee!), but I somehow can’t bring myself to censor 320×240 Chinese subtitled caps. I tried to avoid too many nipples, but I really wanted the caterpilar shot and at 320×240… god only knows what’s in a pic half the time.
Second, never again. Never freaking again will I watch Ikkitousen at 320×240 with Chinese subtitles and an almost 2 second audio desync by the end. Ikki Tousen deserves so very very much better, and this episode proved that. It may mean that episodes get delayed a little bit, but on the other hand, I’m probably not going to be up this late ever again because dealing with this strange rmvb involved calling on at least three dark gods and then suborning a victrola to make the damn thing play.
Okay, on to the episode.
It was fan-freaking-tastic. We got not one, not two, but three lesbian fantasies out of Kann-u (albeit only two naked lesbian ones), Kann-u picking a jealous fight over Ryuubi after Hakufu stripped her and started vigorously towelling her chest, about a full minute of Ryofu vs Kann-u (which is apparently a flashforward), Hakufu being her cheerful airheaded self all full of Mou-chan groping and general wackiness, and of course, Sonken Chubou, Hakufu’s sister voiced by my heroine, Horie Yui. In the real Ro3K, Sonken (Sun Quan) was the emperor of the Wu dynasty after Sonsaku (Sun Ce), the Phoenix King, died, and ruled Wu for pretty much the majority the story. He tends to be forgotten behind the fame of Sun Ce and barely holds a candle to the legends of Ryuubi (Liu Bei) or Sousou (Cao Cao), but he’s one of those awesome overlooked historical figures and I really am interested to see what they do with her taking on his role since he ascended to the throne very very young.
That’s really all you need to know thus far. I have a crush on Horie Yui, Sonsaku, Kann-u, and thousand year old Chinese warlords. The episode was a ton of fun, despite watching it as a resolution reserved for apparently insane Chinese and it looks like the plot’s going to be focused a lot more heavily on the Nanyou side for this one going by screentime and the cliffhanger at the end about Ryomou’s dragon having… issues. I’m reserving my guesses for who the woman in the hood is, but aside from a new character (Liu Meng really doesn’t have too many traditional enemies), I’m pretty sure that Bunwa is still bumming around somewhere with a chip on her shoulder the size of France against Nanyou. We also haven’t seen Ryofu’s revival yet, though the next episode preview showed Hakufu’s dragon leaking out a bit. That plus a ton of Sonken… I’ve got everything to look forward to.
No OP This Week… So Have the Full Version of the Kann-u/Ryofu Fight
A storm brews. Kann-u and Ryofu rush to attack eachother. They trade blows and then seperate. Kann-u tells Ryofu that she’s happy to fight such a warrior, but she won’t lose. Ryofu rushes Kann-u and attacks again, landing a few solid blows and then slamming her backwards. Ryofu stands above Kann-u. The two glare at eachother. Ryofu prepares to finish her, but a lightning strike blasts towards them and knocks Ryofu away.
In the aftermath, Kann-u stands and stares at her spear. Koukin narrates they didn’t know anything about what was happening.
Hakufu enjoys a bath. Koukin continues narrating about how he’s a warrior… reincarnated with a soul from the Three Kingdoms. Goei tells him to fetch her idiot daughter for breakfast. HELLO HAKUFU’S NIPPLES, I GUESS AT-X AIN’T CENSORING! A caterpillar falls onto her cleavage and she flips out.
Koukin opens the door just in time to get drenched and then get an eyefull of his cousin, who happily greets him.
Koukin and Hakufu run to class. They argue about whose fault it is on the way.
All of Nanyou greets her as she arrives. Koukin gives us a quick history lesson. She was his childhood friend and then a toushi that came to Nanyou.
Hakufu watches Gakushu pump weights. He invites her to join her and asks where that other person is… no… not Koukin.
Ryomou is standing at a grave, looking at a picture of Saji and herself. MOU-CHAN! And Ryomou nearly takes off Hakufu’s head with a kick. Hakufu quickly recovers and teases her for daydreaming about Saji. Koukin admits that they haven’t heard anything from him lately. Ryomou goes all tsundere about him for a bit before trying to change the subject to discussing the security of Nanyou.
As they talk about Kann-u and the toushi at Seito, Hakufu clamors for attention, finally ending in groping Ryomou and getting smacked for it and called an idiot. Hakufu takes offense at being called stupid, as usual. Ryomou decides to take her aside for the talk about how to be an adult toushi.
With Gakushu and Koukin’s help, the teaching sort of starts. Except that Ryomou’s kind of a clumsy adult so that’s not what they want her to be. Somehow things get turned around so that Hakufu’s giving the lecture and challenging Ryomou over parttime jobs. Gakushu and Koukin just sigh.
At Seito, Ryuubi’s got her nose in a book. Kann-u comes into the room and she perks up then glomps the hell out of her. Kann-u goes all weak kneed with lust and daydreams about being naked with Ryuubi. The two go to kiss… but Kann-u snaps out of it and pushes Ryuubi away.
Instead, she gives a boring status report. Then Ryuubi tells her that she’s hungry and wants to go get food with Kann-u, so there’s another naked Kann-u fantasy moment. Koumei and Chouhi show up and are hungry too. They invite themselves along, so nothing but despair for Kann-u. As they talk about it, Kann-u gets ignored and sighs.
In the city, at a shrine… Kann-u prays… but is distracted by the rest of the Seito group looking at a food catalogue and making noise.
They go to a restaurant and find Hakufu and Koukin working there. Chinese dress Hakufu happily serves them. This is a new kind of battle! She’s burning up! Ryuubi offers her a book to read, but Hakufu’s too stupid for such gestures. Koukin chews her out a little bit for slacking off.
Food is served. According to Ryuubi, it’s orgasmic and she glomps Kann-u in thanks. Koumei demands to be fed by Ryuubi, which sends Kann-u into another lesbian fantasy. Chouhi jolts her out of it and then Kann-u tries to get fed by Ryuubi too… which results in Chouhi doing the feeding.
Crash! Hakufu fell over sending crap flying everywhere. She goes to chase it down, but that gives Kann-u an idea! She tosses some food in Ryuubi’s direction. Ryuubi calls Kann-u a klutz and goes to feed her. Kann-u’s lips long for the meatbun… but then Hakufu steals it. Delicious! Kann-u is horrified.
They chatter onward and Hakufu teases Ryuubi a little bit, wanting to be fed. Kann-u finally snaps and breaks the table. Ryuubi’s a mess, the tea’s soaked through her shirt. Hakufu rushes over and pulls Ryuubi’s shirt off and then starts vigorous towelling her off.
Kann-u (and some random background guys) stare lustily, but Kann-u starts fuming again.
Kann-u demands that Hakufu take her hands off Ryuubi. Hakufu’s annoyed. This has nothing to do with Seito or Nanyou. Kann-u’s eager to pick a fight though, and attacks, blasting a hole in Hakufu’s shirt. Hakufu is stunned for a moment, but jumps to attack. As the two clash, a huge platter tumbles towards Ryuubi. Koukin jumps to save her.
With the flash of a sword, the platter falls to pieces and Chou-un stands above Ryuubi.
Unfortunately, she went a bit overboard and more swordslashes appear all over the room and it mostly explodes.
Chou-un takes her soup and tells Kann-u to calm down. She and Hakufu are still glaring at eachother. Suddenly a voice pipes up. People should fight over important things only. Nobody recognizes her, but they can see her magatama earring, so she must be a toushi. She greets Hakufu and Kann-u. She’ll be in their care at Nanyou from now on. She’s Sonken Chubou (Sun Quan… and Hocchan!).
Everybody’s surprised… Sonken was the successor to the Phoenix King. Koukin realizes it, but Sonken cuts him off when she realizes who Hakufu is. She’s Hakufu’s younger sister and humbly bows before her. Wait… Hakufu thinks that there’s no way she has a younger sister… does she?
Whose-his-face the doctor gives Ryomou a new eyepatch. He warns her that her dragon is not the same as Hakufu’s or Ryuubi’s, but she already understands that very well. As she leaves, her cell phone rings… it’s Saji.
At night, Ryomou leaves the school to meet Saji. He keeps his back to her as she asks what this means and then walks away. She tries to give chase, but can’t catch up. Her eye suddenly hurts. She can’t believe it, the dragon is…
From the school’s roof, a hooded woman smiles.
Preview:
Is she really Hakufu’s sister? Time for the grand tour!
