I Love You, JCStaff

May 10th, 2008

It’s not your consistently above average production values. It’s not your watercolor art style. It’s not your obsessive love of female thighs. It’s not even your dedication to interesting eyecatches. It’s that unlike every other studio, you seem allergic to creating hype any farther out than a few months. So instead of saying "Hey dudes, new Haruhi season some time in the next 5 years maybe" or "more Higurashi… whenever we get around to it," we get "Oh hey, we’re making more Slayers next season," or "new Nodame in October. Seeya then. Thx bye."

Don’t ever change, JCStaff. Don’t ever change.

  • FortMan says:

    Awesome.

I still wonder if we’ll get to see more live action Nodame as well.

  • zqube says:

More sarcasm was expected based on the title

  • Kikaifan says:

Of course, ‘more Slayers next season’ is for me a huge incentive to find things to like about them anyway.

Nah. JCStaff gets enough crap from other people who seem to believe that 99% of their worth was ZnT. They’re one of my three favorite studios, up there with Shaft and UFOTable in my personal pantheon.

  • Shippoyasha says:

    SLAYERS! MOTHER FUCKING SLAYERS!

    SLAYERSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Deranged says:

I do like how we don’t have to be waiting absolutely ages for their work. Just a nice subtle amount of forewarning and I am hyped enough for it… XD

    Will be sweet.

  • Avisch says:

JCstaff is ok. I sort of disliked them for making the non-existent anime. But their recent shows are ok.

My favorite are: Studio DEEN, SHAFT. Ufotable has won me over with the Rakkyo anime.

  • Tokkan says:

… How can you like Studio DEEN? The only recent thing from them that I’ve like is Higurashi, apart from that they’re comparable to Toei or Pierrot in terms of shittyness, it’s just they don’t make prime time shounen unlike Toei and Pierrot.

  • sage says:

Bah, DEEN is good when they try. They just don’t do, most of the time.

  • Westlo says:

Here’s hoping J.C Staff actually spend some money on the animation for the second season and stop with the crappy CG hands for the music scenes. Really aside from Shigofumi and Nabari J.C Staff have been disappointing on the animation side of things the alst few years. R.O.D TV which they did with DEEN is still more impressive than anything either company has put out since.
