Junjou Romantica #01 — It’s Raining Men
April 11th, 2008
Or would you prefer a Village People joke?
Impressions:
Guinea pigs are one of my favorite pets. They’re extremely docile and very sociable animals and unlike most other rodents, are highly emotive through purrs and squeals. Also unlike hamsters or rats or other disgusting pests, they’re also rather clean, especially when it comes to diseases. Guinea pigs are also hardly little critters, loving to make their own nests and living spaces if you just toss some hay in their living area and let them go nuts. They’re big enough to be pretty durable (not that I would condone being mean to them, but accidents and small children happen) and fun to handle, and yet lazy/cowardly enough to not really be a flight risk. Anybody who has ever owned a hamster knows the joy of searching for the nasty little buggers through every nook and cranny of your home. If a guinea pig even decides to leave the cage, it won’t go far, and even if it does, will eventually end up in the warmest and safest part of your house… your shoe. They’re basically fat lazy little lawntrimming dogs.
Huh? Junjou Romantica? It’s not gay perse. It’s super ultra mega gay. It takes about 3 minutes before the guy goes from "ewww, men loving men" to necking with every single other man on the show. Frankly, I find guinea pigs far more amusing and interesting, and so should you.
