Well, at least this OVA’s over.

Impressions:

Part 1 was a big schoolgirl parody. There was a little Marimite, a little generic hentai game, a little Gokujo Seitokai, and of course, a little octopus. Of particular note was the Shana movie poster in the background when Takaya came home to interrupt Yui’s MMO schoolgirl fantasies. I also enjoyed how Yui’s ribbon is actually multiple parts that fell apart when she was knocked over at the beginning. Unfortunately, that happened before even the OP played and it was more or less downhill from there. Alright, I did get a chuckle out of the question of what Yui has under her skirt just because it was so unexpected. No super sentai parody this time, unfortunately.

Part 2 had precious little Takaya, thankfully, but was mostly about the girls thinking he was tired of them and had found another girl. Yui milked it for more drama than I cared to stomach, including shutting down for most of the second half and then just being too ashamed to reveal that she woke up. Yeah… this show needs a plot and drama in the same way that my laptop needs an udder. Of course it ended up being whose-her-face Kuon’s master and maid robot techy to the surprise of nobody, but Yui still woke up and confessed everything blah blah blah illicit romances between men and robots with the kind of fanservice that Chobits can only dream of. At least this part (hell, this episode as a whole) was relatively devoid of the full frontal gratuitous fanservice that pervaded the other two episodes. This time around, there were just scattered panty shots and a few bouncing breasts. Hell, a normal episode of Rosario probably out-sleezed this one.

Well, I guess it wasn’t an awful awful OVA, but it was mercifully short and passed the time. Still, I can’t exactly call it recommendable. Most of the enjoyment I got from it was from the random cameos and homages peppered throughout the first couple episodes and the super sentai bits. It really is just a trashy Chobits knockoff to the core. Yui’s fun, but the rest of the cast is just awful. I’m not even sure if Yui’s that good or if I like her just because she reminds me of Parfait’s Rea Katori. Stupid Giga… you owe me a Duel Savior anime, you jerks. Ahhhh Taiga Nanashi… you’re so dreamy…
