Shakugan no Shana II #19 — Worst Crimson Denizen Ever

February 22nd, 2008

This time, on Queer Eye for the Mystes Guy…

Impressions:

Great episode, even if Zarovee is easily the lamest of Crimson Denizen to date. He didn’t even try to fight back when Yuji decided to go ape on his tail. The first couple, fine… he was surprised… but then another two went down to a fireball from standing around and the last one just sat there like an idiot and let Yuji skewer him like a trout. Bifrons was also pretty lame. He just sat at a distance and charged his cannon up. Then one attack from Shana later and that’s all she wrote.

Yuji was pretty funny this episode with his random screaming fits in between going nuts on the Super Crimson Sentai. Of course, he still can’t fly apparently, so he still ended up looking like a putz at the end of the episode while dangling from Wilhelmina’s ribbons. I hope this is also finally the end of stupid Eita. I don’t even really get why he’s so pissy about things anyway. It’s not like Ogata will be safer now that he’s disowned Margery. He’ll just be totally ignorant of any danger to her or himself. Well done, Eita. You’re certainly doing your best to protect her. The cliffhanger at the end of the episode was also spoiled a bit by the preview. Why show that and not reveal that it’s Sabrac right there in the episode? Well, whatever. Very good episode showing that Yuji’s not at all reluctant to throw his power around now and we’re into some quality action as we approach the home stretch.

Yuji vs Zarovee

The Zarovees look down on Yuji as he introduces himself. Yuji tries to figure out what the hell is going on. He thinks that he needs to make contact with Shana and the others, but Zarovee cautions him against that and threatens the entire city of humans if Yuji doesn’t listen to him. Yuji flares his energy up and two of the Zarovees combine in fear. Yuji relents and powers down.

He demands to know if they’re from Bal Masque. The combined Zarovees split in surprise. Yuji keeps trying to think of how to get himself out of this without endangering the city. The Zarovees know what he’s thinking and warn him against trying anything.

At home, Shana watches over Chigusa. Shana has given her tea for her illness. Wilhelmina is trying to prepare… food… in the kitchen. Mostly by the "throw everything into a pot" method. Kazumi also made food for Chigusa. Shana excuses herself and heads out, but remembers chewing out Yuji earlier sadly.

In town, Ogata and doofus are out on a date.

Yuji and a Zarovee also walk through town with all the other Zarovees wandering nearby. Yuji thinks that he has to hurry up and think of something to do.

He comes to a decision… and starts screaming wildly, attracting the attention of everybody. Zarovee tries to quiet him, but Yuji just wants to create a scene. He shrugs the Zarovee off and the two continue on.

Eita and Ogata were watching the whole scene… and Eita realizes that Yuji flashed him a look and that he needs to do something. Ogata also thinks that there was something weird with that guy and they need to investigate. Eita realizes that it’s a Crimson Denizen… but then remembers Ogata getting hurt. She tries to chase after Yuji, but he stops her. Ogata doesn’t understand and Eita’s not providing answers either.

Just then, another Zarovee wanders past and Eita realizes that it’s up to him to save Yuji, even though he still feels that he can’t face Margery and doesn’t want to see Ogata like that. He turns to leave, but Ogata stops him. He changes his mind and runs off with her to help save Yuji.

The two come to Satou’s house, and Eita makes Ogata wait outside. He rings the doorbell  and tells Satou that he needs to talk to Margery.

As Ogata waits outside, Eita explains to Margery. Margery immediately decides to check things out herself. As she gets ready to go, Eita stops her and apologizes. Margery sees Ogata and tells him to hurry off. Eita grabs Ogata and the two run away. Eita bows to Margery three times over this 15 second span.

At home, Chigusa sleeps peacefully while Wilhelmina continues to harm things in the kitchen. Shana asks about dinner and doesn’t get a good answer. The talisman in her pocket glows.

Margery and Satou look over the city, thinking about how to save Yuji. It is a mystery that there’s a presence that a Flame Haze can’t detect.

Zarovee and Yuji keep walking through the city. He wonders what the hell is going on. Zarovee makes random small talk about barriers, but Yuji thinks its strange… and that maybe that’s why he’s being led somewhere. A small barrier might not stop them because the forces are spread… but with a large enough barrier…

Bifrons watches from a huge distance in sort of a cannon form. He starts drawin in matter and charging himself up.

Zarovee is pissed that Yuji has figured it out. Yuji closes his eyes and declares that he’ll protect all of them. An absolutely massive barrier comes up encompassing all of them, even Bifrons. Yuji summons his silver flame and attacks, killing one of the Zarovees instantly.

The other Zarovees try to come together, but Yuji grabs the closest and crushes his neck, thinking that he finally understands what Shana and Yoshida were saying. He blasts away another couple.

One Zarovee remains, cowering in fear. Yuji thinks to himself that he understands Yoshida and Shana and will stand on his own. He summons Blutsauger and throws it, impaling the last Zarovee.

The area around him is completely destroyed. Yuji starts yelling out to Shana, realizing they’re in trouble. Wilhelmina and Shana drop in and Yuji explains that they need to find the other enemy and get out of that place. Shana flies upward and Wilhelmina drags Yuji with them. From above, they see Bifrons charging. Shana won’t make it in time though, so Wilhelmina uses her ribbons like a rubberband to catapult her at Bifrons. Shana attacks as Bifrons fires. The two hit right in front of Bifron and he’s destroyed in a massive explosion.

All the Flame Hazes check around, but are happy that it looks like everything is okay. Yuji is a little shocked at the destruction and still thinks that something is strange.  Just then, a red flame erupts through the entire area.

  • Kaito says:

Wtf? That was pathetic. What happened to the fighting that was shown in the OP?

  • Myssa Rei says:

Of course Zarovee is pathetic — as Jaeger Tomogara, he’s not even supposed to fight, just scout potential marks to destroy. The muscle of the pair is *supposed* to be Bifrons, who is the ‘Wanderer’ (gotta love the Bal Masque organizational terms).

  • yuji sakai says:

he’s more than a cockroach with no hands

  • yuji sakai says:

flame hazes + the bal masque = a huge massacre
