Impressions:

The dream scene that started this episode was simply wonderful. Naked angel Mihato caught under a glass dome, Venus flying around in a frying pan, the Colonel as a giant rampaging robot, and all the sisters wrapped around eachother… too bad the rest of the episode was a lot less off the wall. It wasn’t really bad, and the animation was actually a bit better than the first episode. Things continued in the really really weird direction from there too. Between Shinra licking Miyu (and licking cream to appy to Miyu), Miyu parading around in nothing but her panties, and the random… uh… masochistic self-loving girl that they stumbled upon on the way to school, this episode was definitely… uh… something else. The fanservice in general was cranked up about three notches this episode, but not quite to the point where it suffuses the entire show.

Still, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t rather entertaining. The sheer press of characters might be an issue since they added another three this episode and only Mihato and Ren have received any decent screen time. It’s hard to complain when you’re laughing for a good portion of the show. I still really love the way they’re handling Ren and Mihato’s domestic violence past. It’s getting a little more heavy handed, but they’re not making any jokes about it or trying to make it humorous at all, which makes it really contrast with the rest of the show and stand out.

Anyway, Ren withstands his test and despite breaking a vase while catching a ferret, they pass. Ren gets assigned to Shinra and Mihato is assigned to Miyu. I’m not sure I’ll keep covering this since… you know… Zetsubou Sensei, Kimikiss, and Shigofumi too… but it’s certainly still a really fun show.
