Don’t! Get! Eliminated!
Impressions:
Perhaps its my upbringing in the marshlands of Florida and walking across flimsy boards above mosquito infested waters commonplace, or maybe it’s the fact that I used to play drinking games to MXC, but I found the overwhelming psychological torture of being forced to walk about 30 feet on a half foot wide board to be somewhat silly. Personally, I couldn’t help from thinking to myself "And there goes Baba Ganoosh! Let’s see that one again on the impact replay!" It’s not even like they’re falling to their deaths. They’re very clearly less than three stories up, which is about the 50/50 spot for fatalities so they’ll probably just be somewhat maimed, and almost definitely survive if they just say "screw this nonsense, I’m just going to hang down from the ladder and drop."
Let’s also not forget Newton’s Third Law. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. You don’t get it both ways. People can’t be so unstable that they’re flailing all over the place and barely keeping their balance, yet are also secure enough to violently propel others off without the resulting forces making you fall as well? I have watched enough American Gladiators to know that Newton’s Third Law is inviolate, even when horse steroids are involved. I suppose this episode (and probably this arc) is meant to be more of the psychological side of Kaiji, but I’m a mathematician. I have no soul. I am made of cold, unfeeling logic and cosines. And cake.
Mostly cake.
Oh well, if you’re into Kaiji for the psychological aspects, I’m sure you’ll like this new arc more than I. It’s just hard from me to suspend my disbelief enough in this totally normal world to actually feel the pressure or danger that they’re trying to present. Now if they had magical angry Satanic chinese assassin nurses trying to push them off…… hmmm…. there’s a thought for a spinoff.

On the other hand, I’m pretty sure most of the people participating in that game don’t really know a thing about physics or math.
