AYAKASHI #02 — Bleh
December 4th, 2007
That’s all it deserves. A general noise of disgust.
Impressions:
Well, this makes my likely final thoughts on the series pretty easy. The action scene was awful. I’m used to bad stills, poor animation, inept direction, and people suddenly emitting berserker cries that go on for a good ten to twenty seconds, but AYAKASHI managed to combine all of these into one truly horrifying package. Things seemed to be going alright, with generic villain slicing up random people just to prove how evil he was. Not exactly the most interesting thing, but then he got ahold of Hime (pink haired girl) and AYAKASHI’s true colors came out. Yuu literally let loose a 10 second berserker cry and everybody stood around and watched as he transformed his arm. Then, interject some stills as he runs up and slaps Yuu around literally in the middle of showing him throw and complete a punch and it’s almost insulting how poorly done this was. Even the worst of Kenichi’s fight scenes were better than this.
Anyway, I can’t even laugh at this, it was just that bad. So all we’ve got now are flat characters, an uninteresting plot, and production values that start out poor at best. I just don’t see this one going anywhere particularly interesting, especially since the game it’s based on is not exactly known for its stellar plot. Scratch one from the winter season already. I should really finish up that preview… eh?

Correct me if I’m wrong, because this is just hearsay, but I thought that Ayakashi WAS known for its stellar plot, in a Baldr Force or Fate type of “the first few routes are lame/normal but the last revealing the truth routes are awesome” type of way.
