Kimikiss ~ Pure Rouge #08 — Jealousy, You Got Me Now

November 25th, 2007

You couldnt lose you couldnt fail, you had suspicion on my trail.

Impressions:

First contact between Futami and Sakino and Kouichi learns the dark dark truth about Mao’s secret life… she’s dating a filthy musician. Well, not really dating since she’s being something a wishy-washy little bint, but apparently Kai was supposed to be her little secret and for some reason, Kouichi seems absolutely aghast at discovering her with him. Maybe Kai has the reputation of a rapist around school. Go bother Totali if you want more of a summary than that for this week.

Futami was a lot more entertaining than usual this episode, which probably has to do with her quirky berry ramen habits finally coming to light, and that’s only really the start of her strange dabblings into unnatural foodstuffs. Hopefully Kazuki and Sakino will force her into some athletics for more fun, not that you’ve heard anything from me about such a situation popping up. Mitsuki remains even more uninteresting than Yumi. I really detest characters who are totally oblivious to the real world for no good reason. “Hello, I am Mitsuki. By virtue of being a teenager, I am a bubbling crockpot of hormones, but I have absolutely no idea what human socialization is and I probably would turn beet red if anybody mentioned anything racier than bare thighs.” Great. That has high class entertainment written all over it.

Like I mentioned above, Mao irritated me this episode something fierce. She’s supposed to be open and flirty, not an undecisive little wench. She wants to have her cake and eat it too, which admittedly, is what cake is for, but you can’t string along your little boytoy for the entire show and not give him something in return.  The Kouichi-Mao weirdness also annoys me. He’s spent the entire show mooning over Yumi, why on Earth should he care about Kai at all? He should be happy his little wallflower actually managed to make a friend, not completely aghast at it. It isn’t even like he walked in on them playing tonsil hockey, just walking together. I suppose that’s the Japanese relationship equivilent of heavy petting, but still… you’re with your own woman, dude. Get some perspective.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Totali says:

Mitsuki is really dumb. She obviously doesn’t listen to enough bad JPop or love love anime.

What is love, baby don’t hurt me~ orz

  • $@#$# says:

Mao seemed genuinely surprised that Kai went after her. I don’t know why, any girl that age would be super aware of people intentions like that. I would totally take Kai over koichi.

I’m starting to get a little worried about where this show is headed. School days is gleaming bright and clear in my bag of “Do not want”, and Kimikiss is getting awfully close to that bag. I really don’t like the ending to this episode (it makes no sense) and if Kouichi and Mao end up together because of this one weird moment I will be forced to take action. Btdubs Mitsuki’s “what is love” thing makes me want to bludgeon myself.
