Rental Magica #04 — Hospitals… Why’d It Have to Be Hospitals?
October 28th, 2007
Â
Speaking as somebody who hasn’t been in one for nearly two decades… man, I hate hospitals.
Impressions:
Sorry, I’m in the midst of a Civ 4 bloodbath with 4 friends. We took a 5 minute break, letting me upload all the caps, but not quiiiiite enough time to watch the episode. It isn’t like I ever have anything useful to say anyway. I skimmed it enough to know that we get a bit more background on cat-guy and assistant-girl. I’ll replace this with my actual impressions when I finish conquering the damn Roman, Dutch and Portuguese forces. Unfortunately, they seem to be allied against me, so it probably won’t happen until tomorrow.
Impressions:
Considering that Nekoyashiki and Kuroha are two of my three favorite characters on the show, I was a fan of the episode. It did take place god only knows when; some time before episodes 1 and 3 and after episode 2 at any rate. I also like that Kuroha is a ghost and not just another one of the girls with spiritual power out to jump Itsuki’s eye bones. It also (probably) explains why she couldn’t enter the shrine grounds during the previous episode. Itsuki still isn’t endearing himself at all to me. I like him with the eye uncovered and when he lays the law down, but the normal blushing self mostly disgusts me. The idea that you should be a simpering coward and everybody will love you for it is somehow foreign to me. All that’s left is a proper introduction to Nekoyashiki and maybe they can settle into a chronological groove instead of continuing to jump around.
As a student of the tarot, I do feel compelled to point out that Addie’s reading of it is just terrible. Temperance signifies harmony, rationality, maturity, well thought out decisions, diplomacy, etc etc etc. Reversed Temperance signifies… as you’d expect… the opposite… restlessness, making poor decisions, moving forward on instinct instead of logic. It has nothing to do with women nor does it have anything to do with danger. Reversed Chariot is the “imminent doom is at hand” card, though you could make a case for Reversed Strength (defeat) and either version of the Tower too… and that’s only touching on the Major Arcana. I’m done being pedantic now.
