Kimikiss ~ Pure Rouge #04 — It’s A Feeling Like This

October 27th, 2007

It’s… ah… subliminal.

Impressions:

Well, Kai came around quickly. I approve of this. I like anime Sakino more than I like anime Futami though, so I’m not really sure where I stand on Kazuki’s mini harem. At least it’s some minor conflict. At the moment, Futami hasn’t really shown herself to be anything but a heartless bitch who couldn’t care less about him. I’d rather see Sakino win him over than him melt the ice queen’s heart. Sakino’s at least taking an interest, and let me tell you from personal experience, you do not want to play rec soccer against girls. Guys protect their lower body. That’s where they keep their precious things. Girls play dirty. In other relationship news, like Mao, I’m ready to take a sledgehammer to Yuumi and Kouichi. Somebody needs to lock them in a closet together and force physical contact. Maybe then they’ll get over the fear of the other’s cooties and just make out already.

On the way out of class, Kouichi takes the time to go hit on Yumi some more. Today he has to help out Hiiragi though so he can’t walk her home. They say good bye… and Mao clubs Kouichi for his spineless behavior. Mao yells at him for not walking her home and not flirting with her more. Time is precious, yada yada. I’m with her on this one.

Kouichi turns around and asks if there’s anybody that Mao likes, but she suddenly becomes defensive and blushes. He tries to to tell her that she has things that she should be doing as a senior instead of worrying about him.

She opens her shoe locker in annoyance and a ton of love letters fall out. If it was me, I’d blow up the shoe locker. It could be terrorists. Mao sighs in annoyance. Every day she apparently gets a ton of them. She tells Kouichi that he should understand now. She doesn’t have the time or patience for this.

She starts thinking about how she’s always taking care of Kazuki and Kouichi and notices him lurking near the corner. Sakino comes running up looking for him, but he tries to sneak off. Kouichi rats him out and he gets dragged off to deal with his club duties. Mao asks if Sakino is the head of the soccer club for bugging Kazuki to show up, but Kouichi says that she’s not.

Cut over to Sakino playing like a champ while Kouichi and Mao watch. All the girls are cheering for her too.

After a tripping foul, she kisses the ball and then scores. Mao has to admit that she’s pretty good. Kazuki basically just hangs out with some random guy on the field, letting the ball get by him and being yelled at by all the rest.

After the game, the frog girls compliment Sakino while Kazuki laments having to deal with the club stuff. He says it’d be the same if he wasn’t there, but Sakino says defenders are needed. It’s as thrilling a conversation as I’m making it out to be.

Pink frog girl takes their arguing as a sign that they’re going out. The usual angry flirting/arguing results. Sakino insults him and says no girl would ever like him. He almost blurts out his secret kiss, but stops himself.

Mao picks up on it and says that Kouichi also has a secret. Sakino wonders who it could be, and asks if Mao has a secret too. The frog girls are amazed that all their seniors have ‘secret lives’ and vow to have one too.

Yuumi locks up the library for the day and heads out. She thinks that she sees Kouichi reading a book in the courtyard, but it’s just some guy who was waiting for his own girlfriend.

At her house, Mao contemplates the love letters while thinking about what Kouichi said earlier to her.

Kai tosses out the garbage and keeps working at his job.

Kazuki is also thinking about his kiss and Futami saying that the test is over.

As Futami walks to class, a teacher pulls her aside to ask her about her test. She asks Futami what was wrong, but Futami dismisses her and walks off. As she walks through the halls, she hears all the other students talking about her. She passes a classroom and another girl tries to ask her if she’s okay. She responds simply that she’s fine and keeps going.

Mao makes it to school exhausted as usual. Kouichi abandoned her as waking her up. She opens her shoe locker to more love letters. She starts to pick them up and Kai shows up to help her.

He asks if they’re love letters, and she says that it seems like it. She says that she feels bad because she can’t return the feeling. Mao’s still a bit light headed from not sleeping and then running, so Kai offers to bring her to the nurse and smiles at her. She blushes in response.

Once at the nurse, she literally closes the door in Kai’s face. She looks around for the nurse and finds Futami reading in one of the beds. Mao apologizes for disturbing her and tucks herself into the other bed. She introduces herself and asks Futami’s name. Introductions over, Mao asks about it. Futami is a bit surprised that her fame hasn’t preceded her. Mao tells her to study hard.

In class, Hiiragi has more filming ‘punishment’ in store for Kazuki and Kouichi. Luckily, it’s just work for Kouichi to design some sort of nonsense for them. This scene dragged on and I wasn’t really paying attention and it’s unimportant anyway. :-P

Edit: Hiiragi wants him to write a script for the next ‘film.’

After Hiiragi leaves it to Kouichi, Kazuki thinks that he’s free… until Sakino grabs his shoulder and reminds him that he promised to do other things.

In class, Mao is being checked on by the girls. Kai is watching her as well. She notices and blushes, then waves at him.

Kouichi is working hard and doing poorly at his assigned task. He remembers Mao telling him that time is precious as he sees Yuumi walking out. He chases after her and strikes up a conversation inviting her to help work with him on Hiiragi’s script.

She agrees and asks what they’ll work on, but he has no clue yet. Smooth.

Kazuki wanders the halls and sees Futami heading upstairs. He starts to call out to her, but stops himself again. Then he grits his teeth and chases after her. She asks him what, but he says “nothing.” He asks her if she’s done other tests, but she says it’s over again and walks off.

At soccer practice, he and Sakino are running side by side. He loses himself in thought and stops running.

She chews him out for letting him score. He says that he was lost in thought, and she reminds him that she’s gotten so good because Kazuki used to be able to school her. She yells at him angrily for not noticing or appreciating how hard she’s worked and then picks up the soccer ball and excuses him.

The bell rings and Mao heads out. Kai is waiting for her at the exit. He asks her if she wants to go on a date with him. Well, he never says date, but he manages to invite her without even stuttering or blushing. Romance Anime Man of the Year. Before she can do more than look stunned, he says that he thought it’d be impossible and starts to walk away. She stops him, and says that it’s fine, she’ll go.

6 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

Does every anime confession/asking out have to be under a tree (especially sakura) or on a school rooftop? One would think they could imagine something different once in awhile. Anyways, an anime guy asking a girl out without a blush or a stuttering is definitely deserving of Romance Anime Man of the Year. He certainly has my vote.

That is totally hot by the way.

You are confusing me by using last names, when I prefer firsts lol. And yea, Kouichi and Yumi are pretty much stuck in junior high or something. Come on~! Eiji and Mao win much more.

  • Aroduc says:

My memory for names is sinfully awful. I just go by whatever the majority of the characters refer to them as. Easier for all involved.

    Except you. :-p

  • Tensho says:

For what I think, this series created very lovely matches and couples, but some Mao/Kouichi fans are certainly pissed off, hahaha, Aroduc, I so agree with you about the Futami thing.

  • Tensho says:

I’m sorry, but I would like to correct some place on the summary. First, Kouichi didn’t tell Mao Sakino is the manager. Mao asks Kouichi if Sakino is the manager and he says no and shows her to the field. Second, Kouichi didn’t date Yuumi, because Hiiragi asks him to write a script for his new film, he thought of Yuumi and asks if he could meet her in the library so she could help him with some ideas to write.

  • Aroduc says:

    Eh. Nearly had the gists. ^^;

    Thanks, fixed.
