Hopefully we won’t have another break or hiatus for awhile now.

Impressions:

Stupid Kekkaishi hiatuses. Another great episode, though it kind of blew its load in the animation department early in the episode, which made the latter climax half sort of lame in comparison. There were parts of the first half also in a slightly different animation style as well. It still looked great though, so I’m not complaining.

Summary:

Tokine has just been thrown into the air, and since she’s out of the range of the seals, she manages to seal all four of them at once and then Yoshi gives her a platform to land on while he runs out of the range of the seals. It’s still taking a lot of her energy to hold up the barriers though. One of the four takes a deep breath and then spits out a shower of acid that destroys all the barriers in the area. Tokine also runs outwith Yoshi protecting her. The four decide to stop screwing around and transform to their true ayakashi forms. Elsewhere, Gen destroys the sealed rock he was buried under.

The four ayakashi start out by throwing the sealed rocks at the pair since they can’t use their barriers against them. Tokine trips and is about to be crushed, but Gen leaps in and destroys the stone before it hits them. Kaguro says that it can’t be helped anymore and heads in to deal with Gen. Gen tells the two to run, because he’s going to go all out. He rushes at the first demon, but Kaguro grabs him in an arm lock and then stabs him in the back of his shoulder. Kaguro runs off with Gen in tow, leaving the two to deal with the ayakashi.

One spews out a cloud of smoke and Yoshi gets sperated from Tokine. The acid one then spews acid all over the place again and as Yoshi’s barrier starts dissolving, Tokine calls him under the cover of one of the seal stones. She’s worried about Gen, but Yoshi tells her that he’ll be fine.

Over with Gen, he’s anything but. Kaguro’s simply too fast for him to deal with and he ends up slammed headfirst into a wall and knocked out. Kaguro leaves him and heads back to observe the others.

The ayakashi are waiting for the acid shower to draw them out, but nothing’s happening, so they start randomly throwing rocks and shooting beams into the cloud.

At the Sumimura house, Shige is working by himself. He thinks to go to Karasumori briefly, but stops himself. Tokine’s grandmother is also unable to sleep.

Back at Karasumori, Tokine is still worried about Gen. The two finally decide on a plan to deal with it while the ayakashi take to the air. Suddenly a huge multi-tiered barrier appears with Tokine and Yoshi inside. The ayakashi spew acid at it, but the multiple barriers give Tokine enough time to spear the acid one and then Yoshi seals and destroys it.

The ayakashi keep attacking though and they’re too fast for Yoshi to be able to catch until he creates a barrier and then ‘chases’ it by extended the barrier and destroys ayakashi #2. He catches a third, but the fourth destroys his barrier before he can kill it.

Elsewhere, Gen is really REALLY pissed about losing and his eyes start to change as he becomes more and more of a demon.

The ayakashi ask Kaguro for instructions, but he tells them to keep going. Suddenly, the kekkaishi feel a huge dark energy, but Yoshi recognizes it as Gen. Kaguro feels it too and is somewhat annoyed. The squid ayakashi suddenly attacks Tokine and drags her off the barrier and into the smoke.

Gen is meanwhile becoming a lot spikier, longer hair, the works. He suddenly stops though, stabbed in the back. The man from man an episode prior stabs him a few more times and yells at him for losing himself.

Yoshi senses that the evil energy has disappeared, but then the ayakashi show Tokine as a hostage and hold a blade to her neck. Kaguro isn’t really impressed by their tactics though. Yoshi is even more pissed and starts emitting a huge amoung of energy.

Suddenly, a slash appears over the ayakashi, and Kaguro says that their usefulness is over and kills them both as Yoshi powers down in surprise. He rushes to save her, but Kaguro appears in his way. Yoshi tells him to get out of the way, but Kaguro would rather tell him that he’s an interesting guy.

Yoshi moves to create a barrier, but Kaguro appears right in front of him and grabs his finger. Yoshi steps back, but Kaguro is already meters behind him and walking away with the human skins in hand, his also dissolving.

Yoshi starts digging through the rubble for Tokine and finds her encased in her barrier underneath a few rocks. She thanks him, but Yoshi is intent on the scratch on her neck that the ayakashi made while holding the blade against her throat. He apologizes for letting her get hurt even a little bit and suddenly they sense another person coming.

This time it’s the Urukai dude with Gen in tow. He congratulates them for dealing with the situation, though says that Gen had become a monster and that’s why he took them down. He gives them further information on Gen’s past and relation to the Urukai, but Gen finally wakes up and tells him to shut up before walking away in a sulk.

Back at Kokoboro, Kaguro returns the human skins to Anko and tells her that the humans of Karasumori were very very interesting.
