History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi #34

June 10th, 2007

Good bye animation budget, we hardly knew ye.

Impressions:

This wasn’t a particularly good episode of Kenichi, especially after how well done last week was. It was literally the 8 minute mark before there was any new content at all, and the next 5 minutes or so were more flashbacks about Hermit’s past. Alright, we get it. He has a sister complex because his died. Let’s get back to fighting and comedy already. At least next week is the end of the Hermit vs Kenichi battle.

Summary:

In case you’ve forgotten how the last quarter of episode 33 went… you get to see it all over again! Hooray!

Once we get done with the 5 minutes of recap, Loki tells us the rest of Hermit’s trajic past. His business partners turned on him and tried to kill him, but Kensei saved his bacon and then took him in.

Our 13 minutes of flashback finally over, Loki hops down and punches Kenichi while Sakaki fumes in the background. Kenichi demands that they return Honoka, but Loki just keeps beating on him and with Honoka hostage, he can’t fight back.

Loki gets tired of wailing on Kenichi and Hermit is starting to lose his temper at Loki as well. Miu and crew finally show up to finish their fight with Loki, but with Honoka hostage, they still can’t really fight.

Loki goes back to beating on Kenichi using a multi-hit style that Sakaki was teaching Kenichi before. Honoka headbutts her captor and accidently cuts herself on the knife, which makes her lose it and start screaming, which triggers yet another flashback for Hermit.

Remembering seeing his sister die in the hospital, his onee-chan aura finally busts forth. The rain clears and Hermit grabs the knife from the lackey stabs it into his chest. He then slaps the lackey silly and breaks the knife. Kenichi immediately attacks Loki, sending him flying with a straight shot.

Loki gets up and threatens Hermit with retribution from Ragnarok. Kenichi and Loki prepare to fight, but a voice stops them… the first Iron Fist from Ragnarok… Odin is here.

Just want to know what music plays in the background during their fight, its a piano themed music that gets progressive.
It also occurs, when hermit is thinking about his past, and it starts when the police is taking his mom away.
