What the hell just happened here?

This entire episode is pretty fucked up. A totally different color scheme was used throughout as well as a slightly different style of animation… and the pacing made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Plus the big ending fight against monster-Kodzuno was totally mailed in. Did they fire all the animators and artists between 13 and 14? And what few writers the show had to begin with? What on earth happened here?

Most of the first part is just sort of random wandering around town and general fluff, before the old monk tells them about the Kodzuno’s past and the seal and what’s gone down. Team Hero then goes to confront Kodzuno back at the shrine, who breaks through the barrier and becomes a monster. They fight briefly, and then Kodzuno-monster guts Kisaragi. Aoi gets all emotional and heals him with sparklies. Kyouichi and Hiyuu then kill Kodzuno, who Aoi then wanders over to and turns into sparklies.

That’s such a letdown for an ending. Or even just as an ending to the long Kodzuno arc. Bah!

    Ah, yeah a agree with you 100%. What the hell did happen? Its bright as hell and the characters don’t even look like themselves. It seems like they hired a whole bunch of new animators for the last couple epi’s. Oh, and ANN says it only 14 epi’s. So epi 14 might be the end.

    For ppl who are interested and really liked this series there’s going to be a second seaon called, “Tokyo Majin Manabu Enken Fuujou Ryuu Ryuu Kenbu hen” airing in july. Acorrding to ANS and anime.fansub.tv. I thought this series was to short. I just hope the season one won’t be like the last epi and will be longer. And more characters.
