Darker than Black #1

Bones’ touching tale about psychics, detectives, psychic detectives, and a giant evil building. Rick’s gone for family business today, so you’re stuck with me.
Random Curiosity has caps and a more in depth summary than I’d write, so hit Omni up if that’s your poison.Â
My general thoughts are that I’m a bit disappointed. The first episode was not especially elucidating, and the Yoko Kanno scoring just wasn’t up to her normal amazing self. It is by no means a bad show and the art/animation is typical Bones excellent throughout, but as far as the first episode went, it didn’t have the “wow” factor that stuff like StrikerS and Gurren-Lagann have already demonstrated. Things happened, but very little was explained, and it came off (at least to me) as more confusing than interesting. To even make sense of what’s gone on so far, another episode need to be watched, and I’m opposed to watching another, but I’m not really looking forward to it anywhere as much as I was initially looking forward to the premiere.Â
