"Remember how this exists and we keep churning out sequels every month?"

Seven new shows aired today, not even counting Somali which had a webcast pre-air or the Show By Rock sequel's sequel that I'm happy to pretend doesn't exist. Three more air tomorrow plus the premieres from last week I'll at the very least glance at. No sooner than I'm caught up before I'm behind again. I'm sticking to only four posts a day though. And boy, do the Thursday pickings look slim.

Impressions:

This is an easy one straight for the bin though. It has slavishly subservient girls who are also cats and… that's it. That's really and truly it. What happened, Japan? I can still vaguely remember the plots of episodes of ancient fanservice schlock like Nagasarete Airantou, Overrun, Ninomiya-kun, Girls Bravo, etc. Characters had personality, if frequently obnoxious, and there were starts, middles, and ends to episodes. There were plots, and I'm not talking about grandiose multi-episode arcs that brought character development, twists and turns, shocking reveals, and emotional climaxes. Just regular romantic comedy learn-a-valuable-lesson-but-not-really kind of things where Something Happened at the start, leading to some kind of conflict, and then a resolution. You know, what people in the writing business would call the absolute bare minimum for turning in a script. And to move from a D to a D+, maybe you can add some goddamned jokes or wit.

This doesn't even deliver on the T&A angle. Its form of fanservice is the suggestion that a world exists of teenage girls whose greatest pleasure in life is to be your unquestioning servants, dressed in the maid fetish du jour fashion for your pleasure. That's it. That's all there is here. No narrative. No jokes. Characters mainly differ in volume and hair color. Without the porn that came with its source, what even is the draw here? I suspect the answer is to remind people of the porn and to get them to buy/produce more of it.
