I like how only the protagonist's weapon works.

Stand My Heroes and Make Me Average will come after lunch, then Jet Girls and Z/X a little later. I'm pushing off Bem and Fairy Gone to the last things in my catch up list because they're already mostly known quantities, and I've been informed that both episodes are tremendously awful.

And also how the protagonist has a special spider sense that alerts him when a fight is about to happen and where to go to pick up the magical girlfriend. Somehow, that manages to be worse than the stupid thing just falling into his lap, especially when he's clenching his fist and making melodramatic declarations that he just wants to discover his true self, or a ghost woman pops up to tell him that he is the destined protagonist who will do protagonisty things, and he needs to know that he's the foretold star baby, and welp, time's up, so ciao.

It still might be slightly salvagable if the action was solid, but no such luck there. The fight against the darker bugs was particularly awful, with the protagonist having the only weapon that didn't plink harmlessly off them while they all just stood there gasping in shock as they got stabbed, but that shouldn't take away from how their "here's the auto-lose miniboss fight to show how underpowered you are" thing was a dude in a tie attacking once, and then getting punched away by another random dude. That's all that was in the budget for the fight. Feels like an action show should be putting at least a little emphasis on having any, but that's just me.
