Cells at Work #09 — Boot Camp

September 1st, 2018

It's past time to crack open another physiology book, guys.

Impressions:

Not every episode needs to be a fullscale viral invasion. The body does plenty of weird things on a day to day basis. We don't need to even go Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* sperm paradrop scene, but it probably wouldn't hurt. It would provide some desperately needed direction to the show, which it has been sorely lacking for the last few weeks. Yet another week where the whole driving force was that merely that a character was insecure. Not for any particular failing or cause, just generalized existential angst and incompetence.

Anyway, this episode is just thymocyte boot camp; a flashback for the two of the secondary T cell characters where one sucks at everything, and the other is so moved by him trying hard that he ends up helping him fallaciously pass a ridiculously easy test that he was failing miserably. Once again, I'm not sure that the writers thought this one out very well. Or at all. The glory of friendship is all that matters and we checked that box with a handshake set against a blazing sunset.
