Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs #06 — Water Slide Safety

August 18th, 2018

Please keep your hands and arms inside the slide at all times.

Definitely not going to have time for Cells at Work before social engagements beckon. I'll get to it in a few hours when I get back.

Impressions:

A very, very obligatory episode, hitting both the last of the primary harem in probably the tokenest of the obligatory harem segments so far, and your standard swimsuit waterpark date thing. Although since it only involved one character, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more in the future. Neither added much of anything though. Chitose has been a profoundly boring character and ten minutes of her pretending to be completely normal with the occasional 'wacky' event due to her powers is really not that wacky or even unusual for the show.

The water park date was just the usual brainless fanservice running through the same motions as usual. The thing I couldn't help thinking was how abhorrent any change at all was. Kogarashi still isn't even allowed to remember that Yuuna is a ghost and we must milk that out two or three times per segment. I feel like there certainly could've been some kind of decent jokes in going to a couples event alone and trying to get into/participate in things seemingly by himself, but they seem only able to default to the "Oops, I forgot for the fifth, sixth, seventh, and ninety-seventh time that other people can't see her."

You know how people tell you “no, this upcoming part is when it really takes off, when it really gets good” when you don’t like a show that they like?

this manga actually gets worse the longer it goes

Also tagging this as yuuki yuuna is hilarious and I’m glad that it was Studio Gokumi making a regular series out of that and not one of those Xebec Fanservice Disaster Shows like this one.

It’s in Jump. That seems like it’s a fact of life.
