Grancrest War #06 — Logan’s Warmup Jog

February 9th, 2018

Technically, most anime could very well be set in one of the Logan's Run domes.

Impressions:

What an uneventful utter waste of an episode. Almost makes me miss last week's bizarre aside into werewolves and vampires. About half of it was focused on that duke and his sidepiece, who has to leave because she's too old, apparently. Except… that's really all that there is to that. He tells some sob story about how mommy was mean, unless maybe she wasn't, and… ?????? The end. They don't defy convention, or find some loophole out of it, or literally anything at all. That's it. That's the big thing is was leading up to. Swirling some wine around while equivocating on whether or not the infodump you gave was tragic or uplifting. The end.

The other half fared equally poorly, but at least had some animation and stabbing. Some Random Dude is a grumpy boy because there's not enough stabbing going on and thinks that everything would be much more peaceful if only there was a lot more war. I think I heard my brain physically heave trying to comprehend the logic there. Mostly though, it was to toss out some pithy platitudes at Theo about how many friends he's gotten killed through being too nice. Remember, of course, that the number stands at zero, and Theo has yet to engage in a single battle where his side didn't immediately slaughter literally everything in their path. I feel like, if anything, Theo should be giving this speech to the other guy. They don't even stick to their guns there either, as that guy then goes on to not kill some soft dude, thereby proving his resolve, but kill the court of an imbecile who gives a damn speech about much he's into murdering out of sheer pettiness.

4 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Neclord X says:

Wow, they expended more time in a dance than they expended into building an entire empire.

    Aroduc says:

Did the empire actually exist in any way whatsoever? I mean, they maybe had a claim that they had that one village they saved, but what else?

    Neclord X says:

Yeah, it existed, they even got some retainers/lords (like the guy with the scar in the eye)that died in the same episode they appeared. But all that happened offscreen.
And now rhey are going to a meeting and just because that two entire countries are going to be oblitarated in their path. I guess then again that would happen offscreen.

I still don’t get the point. Having gone in blind this show feels like a demo for an online cardgame. In these 6 ep technically more happened than in a season of Shoukoku no Altair but all of it means nothing. I did like the fist dance.
