I think this episode was written by and for the artists.

Impressions:

Ah, Japanese parody. Where the joke isn't mocking other things, nor the blatant copying. It's simply announcing that it's copying something else. In this case, mostly Index. But wait, this is also self-aware, so it adds to it the extra 'joke' of them saying that this isn't an anime. And if I seem like I'm railing on about a single joke, it's because this episode decided that it didn't really want to make jokes this week, so that was one of like… four? Five? And even that's reaching for things like "they play D&D and all of them are sisters" as a joke. Of course, it would also be Nayuta who's the only one self-aware enough to be trying to turn it into porn, or engaging in mock resistance when it does.

It was definitely squandering pretty much everything about doing some kind of wacky otherworld thing, or making fun of tabletop RPGs. It certainly bothered to explain them, and demonstrate that it kind of understood things like perception checks… twice over… but that was about it. You can do so much with D&D, and we instead opted for… "They created characters that are sisters" and no more. Probably the most interesting thing one can say about the episode is that they spent more effort into animating it than certain other shows have lately, which is kind of weird for something that regularly throws up basic powerpoint slides and calls it a day.
