Girls’ Last Tour #01 — Requiem of the Blobs

Why is the spit so viscous and shiny?

Impressions:

I feel like I could write the same goddamned thing as I did for the non clownfest high school kids show, which is kind of an accomplishment considering that this went out of its way to try to come up with at least the vestige of its own setting instead of just falling back on high school. But that's as far as it got. Well, perhaps that and a bunch of CGI. When it comes to actually doing something with it, the only response it has is "Do? I don't follow. There are girls. They don't do anything. Also, have you seen our CGI pipes?"

And so we have another episode of a pair of twittering budgerigars simply bumbling around without purpose, point, conflict, comedy, or challenge. Occasionally, there's a flashback to the self-evident apocalyptic war in the past, but that's all of a percentage point or two of the episode when it can thrill us with dialogue like "This dark place is dark." The best you can probably say is that it's inoffensively atmospheric, and perhaps a nice show to watch if you wanted to fall asleep listening to some soothing music. If being put to sleep by strange blob creatures doesn't scream entertainment, I don't know what does.

It wants to be nice and relaxing but it also has the stench of death hanging over the entire world, and I’m just not sure how that’s a combination that can work.
