I blush too when girls open their chests and expose their gears.
This opens with the promise of action and blowing up lots of robots. Not exactly competently, but it's more animated action than anything else this season has put together in entire episodes. Then the OP plays, and the honeymoon is over. The remaining 18 or so minutes of the episode are more or less evenly split between two characters, one in a light novel who exists solely to deliver exposition, and the other to a 14 year old who exists to deliver exposition AND be the object of a magical girlfriend's affections and finger blowjobs. I guess at least they're generally cheerful and spirited without being screamy. Again, not quite to competence, but still astonishingly somehow in the top 1% of characters for this season thus far. Well, perhaps there's something to be said for the snark of the magical girlfriend, but then again, finger blowjobs.
It completely fails to live up to the first couple minutes at any rate, not really setting any kind of direction or story, just spitting out a bunch of exposition and "here's a magic girlfriend." Past the pre-OP bit, it just comes across as just another bland pervert comedy with a somewhat higher concentration of pianos and gears than usual. Precious little is set up in the way of story or overarching narrative, the episode just anticlimactically peters out when it hits the 24 minute mark, and while the characters don't narrate their life stories to imaginary goats living in their heads, they do enjoy doing more or less the same thing out loud. Yet again, holy hell not good, but somehow not even close to the worst thing I've seen, even just today. I think this thing's true saving grace is how awful everything else has been thus far.
