Little Witch Academia #10 — Queen Bee

March 12th, 2017

No puns about big balls this time.

Impressions:

Good lord. How much mileage do they think they can get out of a single joke? You see, Sucy lets loose a pun-bee that causes infatuation… and people start getting randomly infatuated with each other… or occasionally themselves from a mirror. That's the joke of the episode. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over. The mirror thing is the height of the gag, and they have to work up to it, passing such other things as "a girl liking… another girl!?"  Oh, and I guess that they also played Flight of the Bumblebee while chasing… a bumblebee! Such referential… references, because hell if I'd call that a joke.

The whole episode seemed to be in service of a single short scene where Akko eavesdrops on some more stuff from the suits about how dumb witches are, like they decided that was going to be the overall 'story' bit for the week, complete with Akko immediately giving another speech about how great magic is, and the rest of it was brainstormed in about ten minutes to fill in the rest of the episode. They needed some way to get Akko to overhear that and deliver another speech, even if it meant momentarily shooing everybody outside for some inexplicable reason, because where else is there going to be a fountain to conveniently dance on to show her whimsy and magicalness? It didn't even come at the end to provide a cap on the episode, but closer to the middle, sticking out like a swollen zit in the affair.

“Over and over and over and over and over and over and over”

Aroduc moving from one bad show to another.

So Akko is going to have andrew “in her” by the end of this.
Only if romance minus fanservice was appealing to me.
