Macross Δ #24 — Walk the Plank

Impressions:

Good lord. Did we really begin this episode by dragging them in front of the royal court and chatting with them about how great singing is? Well, it's cheap to do, only involves talking heads, and we haven't masturbated enough to the greatness of pop idols, so of course we did. Meanwhile, that one red-haired guy continues to have the decorum of a goddamned four year old. Everyone else is happy to simply stand there impassively (and cheaply) while he angrily screams at how the prisoners of war don't 100% share their world views while the guards stand around like trees. And then they decide to execute them by making them walk the plank. It would seem there is no level of stupid to which this cannot descend.

The second half (more like last five minutes) was a little more of what I'd think people expect from Macross, which is to say actual idol masturbation and half-assed dog fights. I'm a little confused as to why they didn't take out literally the entire enemy military forces while they were defenseless after rescuing the three morons, but we've established they're all morons long ago. The only things of note to actually happen is that one of them took a glancing shot from a sniper (and it's all Freyja's fault!), and Mikumo went into another one of her naked astral trances, which means, uh… something something super duper magic song of destiny.

What they done and do in the future, with Mikumo… i am not approve. She is just lost all “magic” around her in the anime storyline, she become to “cliche” now

i bet she even start to sing, forced because of her DNA

  • Tsuri says:

You forgot to add Freyja is dying. I’m surprised this didn’t start happening to her much earlier.

I’m so glad I remembered this blog exists. Thank you for watching this so I don’t have to.

    Aroduc says:

Isn’t everyone of her hair-thingy race dying because of hand-wavey magic?

    Tsuri says:

They die at a young age, they are not supposed to crystalize until maybe their mid twenties. Loliking is like 9 and he exhausted himself with singing so he is dying at a rapid pace. Freyja is 15 and the same started to happen to her. It was pretty underwhelming, she should have started to crystaldecay after something major like episode 18. At this point there are so many plot threads they are just throwing stuff at the viewer.
