Regalia #04 — Work Will Set You Free

July 28th, 2016

We love construction work and rebuilding infrastructure!

Impressions:

Rather dull episode, although most episodes of this show have been pretty dull outside the fights, and the one this week was very brief and extraordinarily half-assed. It didn't even work well for building up an antagonist because it was a completely one-sided beat down where he teleported around while Team Lesbians pretty much just stared in aghast shock. Nor did the dynamic duo get to do anything after they showed up to stop the fight. The antagonist just declared stuff over and wandered off through a magical teleportation portal for giant robots. Also a thing, apparently.

Rena's whole schtick with all her astral journeys and symbolic visions would work a lot better if she was being better presented as damaged. They're kind of going for that, but not committing, and I'm almost certain it's because they can't bring themselves to give her any actual flaws, just childishly cares so much for her friiiiends. Take that crap to a self-destructive level at least if you want to be having her flail at hallucinations. And extend that to the utterly saccharine crap about workers being thrilled to see the people who just destroyed a bridge because everyone loves the protagonists just that much. Well, and the other gigantic issue constant weighing on this show that about 12-15 minutes of every episode is briefings or faffing around at some cafe or another.

5 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

…Oooookay then. That’s extra double bizarre.

    • Neclord X says:

DOH! WTF is this? Not that I care much but…it’s weird, specially since even being bad the show is not near as bad as lot of the works out there each season.

  • Jack says:

Weird that they are stopping this show so soon just to reboot it in the Fall/Winter. I can’t remember a time when they did that.

  • Neclord X says:

At this point, something tells me that there is not going to be a huge civilian massacre that will make things more interesting. A pity, if they sulk that much for a bridge I wonder what would she look like if with some hundreds of bodies.
