I’m Sakamoto #01 — Budget Already In Full Collapse

April 7th, 2016

Joke's over. Everyone can go home.

Impressions:

On the upside, every time they jumped back to that stupid little volleyball shot, it got shorter. On the downside, it started at around a minute and a half and was only down to about 20 seconds by the last one. I had briefly flipped through the source manga for about three minutes, mostly to see if there was going to be more than the one gag that people try to screw with him but he instead looks cool. The closest it came to a joke otherwise was around the 18 minute mark where it just got weird, with everyone stripping because a bee was in the room. Oh, sorry. Now I've spoiled that for you too. I guess that's all the jokes in the show then. No point to watch it.

So it's my grand pleasure to see here that they turned that three minute experience into about 19.5, adding nothing in this new medium but a soundtrack that bounces back and forth between jazz and on-hold music. And by jazz, I mean the same leitmotif every single time the one gag is made. I… guess that's marginally better than someone screaming or panning at the camera, but there's no shortage of the titular character posing for each punchline either.

Next Episode:

And now, a girl.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Kayla says:

Disappointing. I was hoping for another Cromartie with this one.

  • Sanjuro says:

I thought that music was just as obnoxious as someone screaming at a joke.
