Dimension W #10 — Photoshop Transparency Layer

March 13th, 2016

I think you forgot to do something, guys.

For the Americans, don't forget about DST. That effectively pushes the air time of all shows back an hour… which doesn't actually mean a lot for me given this season's schedule and my own constraints… like not wanting to wake up at 6am instead of 5, although it does move Pandora out of pre-work availability. Whoopie… or something. It's probably also a sign that it's time to get working on next season's preview.

Impressions:

Ye gods, this was almost a twenty minute straight series of info dumps. After the first, every time it looked like there was going to be some action or tension, they tossed up a still and went right on back to the exposition. Obnoxious exposition at that. This show's need to explain every single thing that's happening at exhausting length is grating on me more and more, especially as the budget folds and the characters become all but unnecessary to affairs. "Here's this guy you know. Now allow me to explain how you know him, why he's a mutant, how ironic this situation is, and how my plan involving killer mutants and mass destruction is to kill you." "You use special coils? I use special coils too. We all use so many special coils that the animators forgot to remove the Photoshop transparency background for our obligatory 2 seconds of animation in that 'fight.'"

There was also the 'death' of the Roboboy, which slotted into that not-sweet spot of being drawn out enough that I'm pretty sure they were trying to get an emotional rise out of people for a character who's done nothing really but spout some racist nonsense while being a racist cliche, and then bring him right back to life and would you look at that? New rules for robots, so now I'm looking forward to Robogirl heroically sacrificing herself only to be brought right back, probably after Kyouma forgets and sheds his very first tear for another girl.
