Dagashikashi #03 — Summer Daze

Swimsuits are not an excuse to draw pubic bones, Japan.

Impressions:

I question their strategy here with picking four relatively random things and doing a bit on each. At least it is four, so it never sticks around for more than about five minutes. Still, it seems like they only have enough content for any of these bits for maybe a minute, especially with the way they keep trying to use lazy half-assed fanservice to fill in the gaps. Particularly when all they do is pan over a female and have someone shout "ooh!" or add sparkles. Oh, you can sort of see the outline of her bra pattern in a whole one shot. That makes it all worth it then.

It was probably the weakest of the three so far anyway, and not just because its attempts to titilliate were especially titless or because Saya was looking extra cross-eyed. There were entirely too many fairly long portions of just kind of sitting around or explaining things, without even the slightest attempts at humor, let alone anything going on at all visually, and no, the random closeup of the oversized goldfish in a tiny bowl doesn't count. Too many of the visual 'jokes' took the form of yelling with speedlines this week, and it was limited on the humor to begin with. Even the random weird candy seemed more there as an afterthought than what was actually spurring any kind of joke or even being culturally educational.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

Images 30 and 59 would be well juxtaposed next to each other. Saya should keep her hair down but it’s probably too much to ask to make the faces less jarring? Just because it’s the comic’s art style doesn’t mean they can’t fix it up.

Well, it does mean that, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

I love how To just yells “LOOK AT HER TITS!” as loud as possible and Hotaru has no reaction. Then again, she basically told Kokonatsu the same thing in a previous episode anyway.

Also, “kids love candy” wow, what a revelation.
