I AM SHOUTING TO INDICATE HUMOR.
Impressions:
This began with the main character’s ne’er do well traits literally being screamed out. Subtle. It was also so helpful when they did that for other characters later too. Not entirely unexpected since it’s by the same people who did the OVAs a couple months back and the little I watched of those involved being constantly screamed at as well. But he has a heart of gold. And apparently the depth perception of a cow wearing eyepatches over both eyes. Japan, this cliche you have of people jumping in front of another person in the middle of an attack and taking it themselves makes absolutely no sense, least of all when you stretch out a scene to try to show that “oh no, he/she was already punching and can’t stop” by making it it last 5 seconds and the punch happen two feet away from the person they were originally trying to hit. That isn’t even close enough for them to pretend that they stole their nose.
It’s pretty much a paint by the numbers Jump ‘comedy,’ right down to the same backgrounds that apparently come as part of the starter Japanese animation kit and simply screaming random lines instead of thinking up any jokes. Cheap as hell, characters and their personalities announced the moment they appear because otherwise someone might be confused, and probably given to the interns to piece together. They do absolutely nothing interesting at all with the body switching gimmick, sticking to all the safe points like “I WOULD NOT DO THAT IN CLASS!”, “MY SEXUAL ORGANS ARE NOW DIFFERENT,” “I AM ACTING UNLIKE THIS PERSON WOULD,” and the old dramatic standby “I DID NOT REALIZE YOU WERE BEING BULLIED.” Fantastico.
