GARO #11 — Monster is Loading. Please Wait Patiently

I hope it’s more dangerous than the big door.

Impressions:

Japan, you need an intervention. No more flashbacks until you’ve shown that you can handle them like responsible adults. Not even little ones. You need to go completely cold turkey until you can get them all out of your system. We’ll deal with your sparkly obsession afterward. This episode pretty much lost me as soon as I realized that there wasn’t going to be anything to it except killing Midboss, and since I like to sort caps while the OP plays, that was pretty fast. I can’t even make dick jokes like with Chaika’s awful Midboss battle.

The whole long flashback was dumb to begin with since if we think back an episode or two to when they first flashbacked, he already started out with “Have you ever felt, you know, evil?” so devoting an extra 8 minutes to his Sith ‘fall’ doesn’t really work. He already basically was evil. Now he’s just evil, on fire, and naked. Is that a step up or down? This guy barely even existed at all outside of flashbacks and a fairly dull fight. At least they didn’t overlay it with self-narration, but who cared if he won or lost? The other two ‘real’ heroes had already wandered off to spend five minutes watching the grand vizier very, very slowly summon a large thingy. Apparently it’s more dangerous than the big door they killed before. Who can tell?

Next Episode:

Things on fire.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Sanjuro says:

I kind of got used to the CG but when its too extremely similar weird armour things fighting each other it doesn’t work at all.

I… meant to write more. I think I got distracted and wandered off.

But yeah. Going back to, say, Yozakura Q 3’s fight scene, there’s no real direction to it. No peak or climax, just a big explosion. So… colors and noise.
