Rage of Bahamut #07 — Who Didn’t Kill Their Fathers?

Consistent characterization is hard.
Impressions:
Again, I must question the angels’ wisdom of dumping her off with babysitters when only a few hours later, they’re overrun with demons. Of course, since it’s a Japanese show, the Christian heaven is obviously evil. And this show is no stranger to questions. I still have no idea why Amira wants to go to Helheim or why anybody wants to stop her from getting there. They’re also having a bit of a problem wth villans and being ridiculous. First it was the pirate who kept doubling down on evil for evil’s sake, this episode, it was Horny, who is also responsible for killing everyone’s fathers. I wonder how many people will have been responsible for killing them before this is over. We’re still missing an explanation for it, so that means that there has to be a mastermind, and maybe he’ll have a boss too, plus another grunt or four.
That kind of pales in comparison to how godawful Jeanne’s continued devouring of screentime went though, not to mention I’ve yet to understand why she’s getting any screen time at all. They cut away from her fight against Captain Lionface and when they got back, she had been ‘defeated,’ but turned the tides by running in a giant circle around it and summoning her spear. The entire thing took about twenty seconds, all the while it just stood there watching before going “Oh no!” and welcoming death by standing still and taking a spear up the gut. We’ve gone from sparring on a giant rolling waterwheel to that? I think the director was a little drunk in general this week. Big dramatic “We’re working together!” moment to catch a deflected sword, completely forgetting about the other one he was already holding. I guess that one was just for balance.Â

“And this show is no stranger to questions. I still have no idea why Amira wants to go to Helheim or why anybody wants to stop her from getting there. ”
Huh?
1 – Amira wants to go to Helheim because she thinks that her mother is there and she wants to see her mother.
2 – Helheim is where the other half of the key is located.
So whoever in the story has planned this wants Amira to go to the other key in order to release the End-of-the-World dragon. The folks who don’t want the world destroyed don’t want Amira to reach the second key.
As far as Jeanne goes – my guess is that she is one of the strongest cards in the Game, and so the anime writers wanted to show that.
