Garo #08 — Shenanigans

November 21st, 2014

Apparently we’re padding things out for the time being.

Impressions:

I guess this is probably Garo’s version of shenanigans. It’s probably a miracle that it didn’t take place on a beach with bikinis. While not as awful as the shenanigans episode of yesterday, it’s a little hard to discern what the point of the episode was. It seemed a little split between dry exposition and then dumb flashbacks about the black knight who showed up for about three minutes last week and comic relief, but the former was just kind of slapped into the middle of the episode with literally no relation to anything else and the latter was not very comical nor relieving.

I guess the takeaway from the last two episodes was supposed to be the black knight is bad news and that they have a past, but perhaps they should have focused an episode on him instead of letting him pick up about seven minutes worth of scraps from between two different ones and still having no purpose other than Rarr Evil! We learn that shockingly, the evil guy turned evil, and that he always had the seeds of evil in him. There’s not even any reason given for it. About the third thing he says in Flashbackton is “I really, really feel like being evil sometimes.” And then Captain Nudeo kills a glowskull. I also appreciate the warning not to do evil or you’ll become a monster at the end. Perhaps a tip the paranoid village full of murderers could have used, but apparently human sacrifice ranks lower than mugging.

Next Episode:

If you’re reading this, then I’ve forgotten to change the template.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

The takeaway from the last two episodes is that they should get rid of the boy and have beardy be the main character.
Wouldn’t you watch 12-13 episodes of a man’s quest for clothes?
