Blade Dance #04 — Taming the Fire Pussy

August 4th, 2014

Sounds like a venereal disease. …Maybe it is.

Impressions:

The pieces were there this week for a surprisingly solid and fairly well-paced episode, but as what’s already been the rallying cry for the series and will likely continue to be, the budget remained on the wrong side of disappointing at best, keeping the action of the episode far from exciting. Which isn’t to say that the flashback or emotional heart to heart in the middle of fighting a giant flaming cat weren’t out of place and dumb, but… well, all is relative and they were kept relatively short and on point, and made it through effectively three ‘fights’ while still managing to crowbar in the flashbacks, angst, insecurity, kiss, awful harem antics, and the most boring tease of a new character imaginable. Considering the pacing of most shows this season, itself included, that’s practically two months of progress.

They did a good job with Claire this week too right up until they reset her back to factory default settings at the end, because of course we can’t ever have any character development or let anybody learn a valuable lesson. There was probably a fight in the writer’s room over whether or not Claire should have even been allowed to show enough empathy and wherewithal to pull Magic Dick off his ass and get him back in the game. More’s the pity that they showed that they could though, and are simply too afraid to let anything actually advance for more than five to ten minutes.

Next Episode:

New girls, same antics.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Sanjuro says:

At least he hasn’t fallen over 7 times and accidentally groped the same girl in every episode yet, like another LN adaptation this season (or every season).

  • The Phantom says:

He is still not at Ichika level of stupidity? then count me in for this.

This show reminds me a lot IS though, just without the retarded male lead.

  • FlameStrike says:

Meh well he isn’t as bad as Ichika, but the plot and girls aren’t any better than IS. I guess if you enjoyed IS you can get some entertainment from this too.
