Sword Art Online #25 — Same As It Ever Was

Why change a horrible formula?

Non-Impressions:

Flipped through. Sitting on a bench talking. Sitting in a cafe talking. After that, stting and talking. Nobody does a damn thing. They just sit around and talk. So pretty much the exact same as I remembered. Then since I mentioned Glee in the last post, I had Sister Act on the brain and rewatched the Hail Holy Queen scene a couple times, enjoying Andrea Robinson’s voice, as I sorted caps/waited for the OP to finish ripping. I think my time was well spent.

Argh…. that OP is horrible. Such shitty music for such an awesome show and huge money making franchise. Geez… they couldn’t even spare a few bucks to put in decent music.

Regardless of the shitty music, this part of SAO should be great if the animators lay off the meth and don’t fuck it up.

The source material is wonderful from this point on. I realize you won’t be blogging it, but it should be a fun season for SAO fans, or at least better than the last half of last season (or season 2 if you prefer) which was so horrible I’m surprised I’m still alive.

I managed to hold for 3 episodes last time. Then watched the first one of the second cour looking for improvement. This thing is either dull or retarded when it’s not both.

  • ElevatorDreams says:

I think this arc sucks. I have no idea why people are excited.

  • Longing says:

I’ll admit that I’m a fan of SAO. The first half of the first season was very well done in my opinion, and the second half was very… mediocre.

I haven’t read the novels, and have no idea what this part will be like aside from having a western theme.

This first episode of this new season was pretty dull, but anime tends to do that when there’s a break between seasons. I’m expecting more action soon.

Good thing there was a yt vid, do not care about haxito or his useless waifu, only sinon and her ecchi matters.

  • FlameStrike says:

Talk talk talk…. Now talking is not necessarily a bad thing, but the topic needs to be interesting. They could have made the character dynamics more watchable too. I mean I don’t mind watching Kirito and Asuna talk, but Kirito and random creepy agent guy meh. I don’t remember him being so derpy in the novels.

Well, the OP was the most interesting part of this episode. Since I have a positive opinion of the SAO novels I’ll be along for the rest of the ride.

  • The Phantom says:

Come on, just like past season this was an alright episode. You need to stop being so nitpick about all shows not all shows are going to start with a battle.

Sometimes talking heads are required to set the plot, and they get better after that, also sometimes those who DO start with an awesome battle end up being average or poor (date a live for example).

    • FlameStrike says:

XD you should know Aroduc better by now! One of the things that went through my head during the long talking session between Kirito and Mr.Agent was “lol Aroduc defiantly wouldn’t like this part.”

      • Aroduc says:

        I’m always defiant.

        • Flip Porter says:

Keep in mind for Aroduc it falls under only a few catagories. Talking heads, tits, or violence. Only those three, Aroduc also seems to like the violence mostly. This episode had only 2 bullets for violence so he’s not happy. Also closest to tits section was Shinon’s ass.

Sadly though Shinon’s ass was probably the best part of this episode. Which tells me this fails as a series starting imo.
