So… This arc’s apparently going to be a three plus episode affair on the strength of about ten minutes of pure padding. The entire sequence between the OP and the commercial break can just be summarized as “obligatory tits in swimsuits” with only the barest connection to the rest of the episode or anything in general. They didn’t even try with the swimsuits/tits either, just put the girls in them, commented on how skimpy they supposedly were, and that was it. And it’s not even like they spent the entire second half focused on insecure elves/dragons, which worries me that they might be trying to jam the thing with what can only be loosely called the antagonists of the series into this arc as well.
It’s not even like they covered any ground either. Ash tries to subdue her dragon again, gets knocked out, and sits through a few minutes of dream exposition, because having an omniscient figure visit you in a dream and explain everything is the pinnacle of storytelling. As are flashbacks announcing the secret identity of someone we’ve never even seen before by showing them with their mask off. Gasp. It was the prince all along! This is a shock because… Because… Um… I’ll have to get back to you on that one. Besides which, practically every other character in the show has ended up being secretly royalty.
