Did You Order a Rabbit? #01 — Imbeciles and Repetition

Â
Repetition and imbeciles.
Impressions:
This set the tone pretty quickly by opening up with a two minute montage of walking around a city. Alas, that was only a sign of how vacuous and padded the entire thing was going to be. At least it only did that once. No joke, no matter how much we’re stretching the definition of ‘joke’, could pass without being repeated at least two or three times in immediate succession. And since this is the bottom end of Japanese humor, half the time the joke is them simply squealing “That’s unusual!”
It’s basically just your standard “three to five imbeciles have a club” shows, except the club this time is pretending like they’d be capable of running a professional cafe despite at least a 80% chance that one of them will drown accidentally waterboarding themselves the first time it rains. And the preview for next week was “They go to school!” so I don’t think they’re even trying to anything here interesting. Production is middling at best but on the lower end of the spectrum and the music designed to lull you to sleep, if not for the obnoxious shrieking every two to three minutes about how cute they’re being. Except they don’t actually have the budget for anything but squealing and saying it instead of having the talent in writing or production to actually make them cute. But they make sure to put them in underwear or naked in the bath together too because I’m sure they were afraid they might lose the T&A crowd too.
This was just vapid schlock without even enough talent or effort behind it to get my hackles properly raised. At least lowest common denominator stuff is aiming for something, or generally tries to find an excuse for “Hey, tits!”, no matter how horrid it is. I find it difficult to believe that even that much thought went into this given its complete lack of effort in any way, and then bloody repeating itself.
