Yozakura Quartet #09 — Frankenstein Frankensteiner

December 1st, 2013

Are we calling any head-scissor takedown a frankensteiner now?

Sorry this is a bit late. I slept in. A lot. My dinner calzone last night betrayed me. A lot. Let’s just leave it at that.

Impressions:

It still wasn’t the most exciting of episodes for the most part though. If the recap OP wasn’t indication enough, this timeskips from last week and picks up after the first OVA. I suspect that they found themselves with a surfeit of Zakuro art from their guest artists (I particularly like the sponsor one which has a giant arrow pointing straight into her crotch) and felt obliged to spend two thirds of the episode on sort of a quasi-epilogue to the OVA stuff… which was pretty much just her wandering around the city with an apple and abundantly open cleavage. Play to your strengths, apparently.

Things did certainly pick up significantly in the last third of the episode though, including their continued newfound magnaminity toward panty shots. Hell, Juri had one that consumed the entire screen as she performed her not-frankensteiner. The budget also took a kind of weird uptick through the entire episode, making me wonder if this one didn’t perhaps lie a bit earlier in the production schedule due to its chronological proximity to the OVAs. They did a significantly better job with Enjin this fight too. He still had his ass handed to him, but at least he was fighting back, and beat up not only Akina before it, but also a fat old man. Baby steps.

Next Episode:

Hime and friends.

I’m barely remembering to check for Kenichi… still not out… let alone things I spent the last two seasons of wondering why I was still watching it.
