Yozakura Quartet #05 — Donut Power
November 3rd, 2013
What is this? Aquarion?
Reminder. With Daylight Savings, everything effectively airs an hour earlier.
Impressions:
All the mixing timelines and reboots of this show are too hard for my poor brain to keep straight. When Akina and gang were gasping about Hime being non-human, which is apparently a source of drama (for at least Hime even if everyone else gets over it about 10 seconds later), my reaction was more along the lines of "Wait, we weren’t supposed to know that?" I also briefly wondered what happened to the fox woman before remembering that was the (second) OVA timeline, also taking place in some kind of resort inn somewhere else entirely.
Mostly wondering why this episode (and the last one) weren’t structured completely differently. If you removed the pool part of last week, then the second half of this episode wouldn’t have been filled with a fat lot of absolutely nothing after a decent start. Eiji being the biggest abuser there. He tosses a couple motorcycles at them and then apparently just glares at them for the next five minutes off-screen. Shouldn’t we try to… uh… maybe hide that a little better? It was certainly a lot better than last week’s. Still, they definitely could have done a better job actually highlighting the kidnapping part of the affair and as I said, the second half was a lot of fizzle without any payoff. I’m also a little leery of there being pretty much no action in the preview too. Hopefully they’re just holding back.
Next Episode:
Akina’s bloody face.

I don’t understand what they’re doing with this show, other than Juri.
