Unbreakable Machine Doll #06 — Garrulous Wolves

Does anything in this show ever shut up?

Impressions:

You’d think either of the new girls would be involved with this arc in some way, but no, apparently not. Komuralongname just hangs out in the background and proves her worth by pointing to a ladder. Without that, she may as well have not existed for the episode. Frey barely even bothered to show up, not that it stopped the wolf from droning on about her for goddamned half the episode. And as always, straight up info dumping is the best way to do absolutely anything! At least the damn thing’s dead. Maybe. I have no idea how magic wolf robots work. Didn’t stop people from showing up at his door to lecture him either though. At least make him do problem solving on his own instead of just walking from point A to point B and finding a new lecture waiting for him. Especially when point B is his own damn room.

At least they toned down the speedlines from last time for the fighting at the end. They were still there, mind you, but only on the very edges of the screen instead of trying to cover up all the CGI. I might have even called it decent had it been a complete fight and had it not been marred by sudden and obnoxious attacks of insecurity. Apparently Raishin being so upset by the wolf he just met dying that now he’s a fussy mom. All the exposition dumps this show thrives on must be regressing him toward the light novel protagonist mean. Given the number of gunshot wounds and other damage he’s been shrugging off too, he’s even pushing into the immortality racket like all the rest, although I’m fairly certain in this case, that’s just bad writing and hoping the audience doesn’t notice.

4 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Flood says:

Women with lung cancer. So sexy.

  • Sanjuro says:

They forgot to animate parts of the fight. Just when they were about to hit each other it cut to black.

  • The Phantom says:

It would be a nice touch if Raishin were a Machine Doll or partly a machine Doll all along, that would explain why F-Cup-Breast keeps saying he is not that weak.

Anyway this was a good episode, most shows would stop after the infiltration scene, but this one went ahead and gave us a treat with a nice fight at the end, thanks for that.
