Yozakura Quartet #03 — Oni Crush

These kids can’t catch a break, can they?

Impressions:

You’ve kind of got to admire Touka’s singleminded dedication to Akina, even with him effectively holding a gun to her head and then throwing her down on the ground to show he caaaaaares and that Kyosuke should too. Well, and the continued excuses they find to flash Ao’s panties, although this time, it was from the front! She was in the episode for about 15 seconds, and they had her playing Dance Dance Wii just to jump around to get them into view. It was not a particularly exciting episode, no. Enjin didn’t even bother to show up until the last seconds, and all he did then was teleport away, his evil plans for the day apparently complete.

Most of the rest of the episode was spent introducing the sisters/Akina’s power/strangling children. They could have done a bit better job in that scene too, showing that Touka was the one who accidentally snapped their necks instead of it being the force of the crash or the strangely exploding car. The sobbing mess and bloody ‘dead’ kids lurching into "Oopsies! Soooo clumsy!" could have also been done a bit better. Or at the very least, she should have learned a lesson in there too instead of pretty much bowing out of the episode at that point for Akina and Kyosuke’s little squabble over her. I feel like snapping the necks of children and reducing them to splatters on the pavement should probably carry a little more of an impact, even if they did get better right away.

Next Episode:

Swimsuit episode Mariabelle’s ass.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Longhaul says:

Never figured out if both sisters are vampire/mermaids or if its one is half vampire and the other is half mermaid.

    • echo says:

The twins are both both vampire and mermaid, it just that Mina (the white/blue coat one) is closer to the mermaid side, while Kana (the red coat one) is closer to the vampire. Most of this is explained in the Tsuki no Naku arc

I thought it was pretty clear that she had crushed the children with her super-strength. It would have been a very cheap sort of tragedy, but if you watch that scene again already knowing the punchline I thought it was pretty hilarious how gruesome they made it.
