Sunday Without God #08 — Angry Basketball

August 24th, 2013

Really have no idea what the point of that was.

Impressions:

Same old, same old. Why these last two episodes couldn’t have been combined into one is beyond me, lord knows that between the basketball, awful sewer montage and hot, hot bath scenes, there was more than enough blatant padding. Ai’s entire purpose in life is to move from point A to point B and trigger the next information dump. Not even particularly interesting ones either. So far, the ghost, which is imported into here anyway, is the most ‘interesting’ mystery going on, and instead, they chose to focus on Girl Daredevil and how she has a severe case of melancholy because she has a sad past. Just like everyone. You’ve played this fiddle already. To death even. Besides, the Mystery Mobile doesn’t stop in the first place unless it’s 100% guaranteed that there’s some guy dressing up like a monster to scare off teenagers, and we’re not going to introduce a bunch of kids with special powers to… Oh right. The writing. Maybe we are just going to piss it all away.

But hey, the headmistress shot at them. The same thing she did when they were whispering out of turn or something. But this time, it was super serious instead of comedy. At least Yuri solidified his purpose in the show as her chauffeur. Which is more than can be said for Scar since they were already driving off, one of the girls holding the baby, before Ai noticed she was missing.

Next Episode:

Lots of shovels.

Foreshadowing his perfect aiming ability, I guess. Not that it was particularly elegant or remotely clever even… but hey, it _did_ have a purpose. And was easily one of the more interesting things this episode.

Girl daredevil is important cause she’s probably going to replace Scar, she’s the same kind of character.
