Servant x Service #01 — Bouncy

They love animating those boobs, don’t they?
Impressions:
Chasing Symphogear with this was probably doomed from the start, but I don’t think I would have enjoyed it much even if I hadn’t. I watched (the good seasons of) The Office. Parks and Rec is probably my favorite comedy still on. I think I can enjoy the whole subdued mundane office comedy thing, but I’m not sure what there is here besides the usual Japanese overreactions. There’ll be some comparisons to Working given this one’s source, but it lacks the exaggerated, colorful characters of that as well as the above average (albeit not far) visuals. And I wasn’t even a particularly big fan of Working anyway, mostly just Yamada and to a lesser extent Poplar. The only thing this shares with either of them so far is an obsession with showing off the main female’s large breasts, only instead of the character hopping and bouncing around, just the breasts do.
Production’s fairly boring all around. Not cheap enough for me to make fun of or annoy me, not good enough for anything to stand out except, again, the flopping breasts which never miss a chance to try to break free from their confinement and flee to Mexico. I guess the music did kind of lull me into wanting a nap, but I don’t think that counts as a win. I’m not sure that I want to blame the director for the humor falling flat either as it is at least rather consistent in its tone and presentation, it’s just that the jokes are barely even there to begin with, so characters will pan for the camera almost at random, vainly hoping that someone will laugh. It actually makes me feel kind of bad for them now that I think about it, which is more emotion than anything in the episode actually elicited.
So I guess what it boils down to is "Does this show contain Yamada?" to which I must answer no.

That was alright, could do a lot worse. Sol also makes a very good point.
