Fantasista Doll #04 — Bath Roulette

Man, are these lesbians pushy.

Impressions:

Damn it. I was all ready to abandon it and was just idly wonder why people keep making these and/or flipping through the quite enjoyable action scenes of Flashpoint some random DC thing which is totally not released yet and I wouldn’t be watching it because that’d be wrong, and I decided to just flip through this mostly to say that I had. And lo and behold, it had what was basically a yo-yo fight too and I just had to laugh at the ass-ugly stills. A dozen magical girls leap into a melee and all they get are like four stills before they whip out the "Now you can’t move so we can gloat and monologue" card. But then that somehow led to some actual effort into the animation for about forty seconds and I had to go back and watch the rest of the episode in the vain hope that A.) Perhaps I had just flipped over others and B.) They might put even more effort into a fight that actually mattered at some point. Well, ‘watch’ may be too strong a word. I did turn on the episode and it ran to completion at any rate.

Anyway, episode about Pinky being angsty about her former master/owner/whatever, a girl with more puffball than head, and then they also summarily dealt with the antagonist. I’m not even sure why the rest of the team even bothered to show up for that except perhaps otherwise the stock footage would have gone unused. I also expected him to be a lot more, well… antagonistic? Or at least to last longer than approximately two episodes. I appreciated him summoning a giant battery to personally electrocute them. It really sold the comical nonsensical supervillain side that’s the kind of thing I expect 1960s Electro to hook Spiderman up to. "Even you can’t withstand the shock of a battery that’s eight times the size of a regular battery, web crawler!" It’s also a little hard to take the heroic sacrifice thing very seriously, but I guess someone played the drama card this time around and unlike all the other magical explosions, that one was for real. Until it was reset about 45 seconds later after a comical kick to the antagonist’s face. Yeah, I get that you’re aiming low here, show, but a little bit of consistency never hurt anybody.

Next Episode:

Things with blue hair.
