Well, at least they half-assed the fight at the start. After last week’s episode, I expected nothing at all or maybe just a couple stills. They still put just about as much effort into Ikaruga riding Hanzou though. Most of the episode was based around her and a particularly insipid miniplot about her getting the special family sword over her evil brother. The main redeeming feature of that plotline is that the period between introduction and resolution of it in this episode was about five total minutes. If you can’t do something well, you can at least do it quickly… I guess. Then reminiscing, real family, etc etc, and the last five minutes were back to Asuka and frogs, because apparently the frog/training thing is going to be an ongoing arc. What joy.
