I don’t remember this series being quite so shameless. At least not overtly.

Pre-airing special on Niconico. Actual broadcast doesn’t start until the 5th (Saturday). Episode 2 doesn’t air until the 12th. I’m sure there will be more of these. I tend to not pay attention and let them surprise me. Kind of like OVAs. Feel free to leave a comment if I miss something.

Impressions:

Well, it’s harmless enough, I guess. The music’s also pretty… uh… soothing? It did fail to lose any points by starting out with the whole harem arranged and not have anybody narrate their way through them piece my piece. Of course, that could also be because they all of about as much personality as your average turnip, and believe me, I’ve met some amazing turnips, so I know from bad. So, I guess… uh… kudos to them for not dwelling overly long on how poor their characters are? Is that a compliment? I don’t even know. It’s hard to say much of anything when twenty minutes boils down to "We went to a magic tree that’s not magic any more… but it is magic! Also, boobs." It strikes me more like a bad OVA prologue to sell the game. Only there are many many more episodes to come after this.

Production was okay, I guess. Cheap certainly, but not obnoxiously so. Nothing interesting going on with the direction in either the positive or negative direction. There were a couple times when I made sort of a huffing noise when it said or did something minorly amusing, but I think I got more amusement from the nightshirt breasts flopping around. That scene was… uh… certainly something. Nemu could learn a thing or two. Then again, given the sexual awareness of the male lead, she’s playing for an empty stage.

So I guess no, it wasn’t a good start. It failed the first episode test of being a hook at any rate. It was just boob enough to keep me from clock gazing, but now that the novelty of that has worn off, there’s little else here. Literally. The characters are generic and vapid, the lead could be replaced with a fax machine, nothing interesting from a production standpoint, and bloody nothing happened. It’s wafer-thin in every way. Except the boobs.
