And it had been a pleasant few weeks without all the crying and mood swings.
I don’t even know where to start with the double double fake sex ‘bonding’ with Azai/Oichi. And yet somewhere, I imagine that somebody thought that was a good idea. Daddy issues too? Oh boy. We haven’t seen that in this show before at all. Nene’s sensual healing techniques were also something fairly blatantly conceived just to pad out a minute or two, especially given everything else in the episode. So, no. It was not a particularly good start or first half.
The second half wasn’t much better either. Nobuna’s wildly fluctuating mood swings have always been a weakness in the show, but it successfully stayed away from them for quite a while. This was unfortunately a return to the old days and a whole lot of "Everybody has to LIIIIIIVVVEEE." This distinguished itself from the other by heavier use of flashbacks and Nobuna crying even more than usual. They needed to do a better job selling why this battle was any different from any of the last eight ‘unwinnable’ battles that they were jockeying with each other to get to fight, although I’m about 98.3% sure that it’s because there’s only two more episodes of the show.
Nobuna totally dies, just like the cliffhanger suggested.
