Joshiraku #06 — Fourplay

August 10th, 2012

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Impressions:

Differently structured episode from usual. The middle out-on-the-town part lasted approximately 90 seconds. So… uh… yeah. That was a little different and not altogether unpleasant. The first part also had perhaps the laziest bit of direction I’ve seen since… well… since the cat god show did the exact same thing… repeatedly. It was all just kind of rambling aimlessly about four since Glasses was off lurking in the shadows instead of hanging with them. Some of the four puns were terrible enough to be passable, but the entire "Joshiraku as a four panel" bit was just lazy and awful in every way. But I imagine there is someone somewhere already squealing in delight that they referenced K-On.

Part trey remained the strangest of the lot as always, although I wasn’t really feeling this one all that much. Probably because there was just way too much Glasses after giving her a complete pass through the first half. She had to be the whipping boy/hazing target/junior member and fighting back against it, but she’s generally only useful for the physical comedy of which she didn’t supply very much this time around. And yes, JC Staff, I can tell you watched 2001. Please turn off the Blue Danube now.

    Marii’s bare buttocks. Oh my.

Aroduc still mad that his prediction that K-On wouldn’t win any new converts to the watching cute girls do mundane things while making silly faces genre was only the most inaccurate prediction of the last four years of any kind :)

They’re seriously just going to let that masked thing hang around without comment for the duration of the entire show, huh?
