Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere #19 — When Birds Attack

August 12th, 2012

"Double Bloody Mary" has to be the most ridiculous cliffhanger I’ve heard in a while.

Impressions:

Come on, Sunrise. When you end on a cliffhanger in literally the middle of nearly half a dozen fights, you shouldn’t begin the next episode with five minutes of history lessons, castle tours, and staring at asses. At least this time it wasn’t Toori’s. Speaking of him, he stuff between him and Horizon still seems awkward as hell and like it belonged about five or six episodes ago instead of in the middle of all this. Particularly after Neit uses her ultimate "Rub our breasts together" attack. Shakespeare’s flashback and sudden fabricated past was about as heavy handed and dumb as these Japanese flashbacks typically are.

Besides the Toori and Horizon stuff (which honestly wasn’t that bad, just poorly placed and with little connection to ongoing events) and the far more bad Shakespeare stuff though, it was a fairly good episode. As before, Neit’s fight remained the highlight. Gin didn’t do too bad herself either, even if it ended fairly anticlimactically… and that’s after cutting the thing’s arms off with her patented banana slip. Malga’s woman didn’t even get to save her… or show up for that matter… which was a little weird. Masazumi’s ended up going pretty much nowhere too, which isn’t terribly surprising, although makes me wonder what the point of it even was (aside from filling up a few minutes, especially right after gaining her magical anteater.
